Young And Needing Dentures
If you get full dentures when youre young, will your face become deformed over time as the bone erodes?
How deformed?Im told I need 19 crowns!! Long and tragic story why – but I cant afford 30000! Dentist says if you get them at 35, your face will become deformed.Is this true?Depressed.
Good God, dentures at 35? That is almost unheard of! While it may change the shape slightly, a great dentist will make you a set that look really good. That’s the only good part. Lower dentures at any age, in a word, suck. The uppers are not so much a problem, there is a lot of soft tissue to “hold onto”. The lowers are held on a bony rim (the mandible). This can be both painful and mobile. Your eating habits will never be the same, you have to get used to a whole new way to chew. Once the extraction sites heal, you will need to get both re-lined, so they still fit. One thing to consider is a few “anchor” implants, with dentures over the top, that holds them in place much better. If your natural teeth are still sound, do whatever you have to do to get them fixed by way of crowns. You will not regret it. By the way, get a second opinion.
