Snug Fit Dentures
When will my dentures fit without adhesive and when can I talk normal?
Ok, now so many people say in a week or two you get back to normal but that is so not true…..atleast not in my case. Its been a month and I can pretty much talk normal except for my S sound and it is noticeable. I feel like Cindy Brady! Also I still have to wear the fixodent and it keeps them pretty snug unless I have to chew then of course they come loose. Is that normal and when will they fit snug without the disgusting glue? I can’t stand that stuff on the roof of my mouth…..
It sounds like you got immediate dentures, they were made from impressions taken when you still had some real teeth and the fit will not be perfect for quite some time. It is very important that you keep going back to the dentist for adjustments and relines as your gums will be changing dramatically over the next 6-12 months. Do not get discouraged, the biggest changes are going on right now.
About the speech issues, we sound worse in our own heads than in reality. What we hear is different from what others hear. Try speaking into a tape recorder or video camera and then listen, it will probably sound different.
